Klopp’s Comic Relief: Hilarious Declaration Reveals No Upset Over Liverpool’s Europa League Defeat

When asked about a close call during a Liverpool game, Jurgen Klopp made an amusing statement, asking “Who cares?”

The German manager was saying following Liverpool’s 2-1 loss to Union Saint-Gilloise in their last group stage Europa League encounter.

With only pride at stake after winning the group, Klopp chose to start a young lineup that would turn out to be Liverpool’s youngest ever in a European match.

Despite defender Jarell Quansah’s well-taken equalizer on minute forty, the Reds were lackluster in their effort, and Klopp acknowledged the Belgian team earned the three points.

Following Mohamed Amoura’s goal to put the hosts up, Quansah scored. Cameron Puertas’ goal then gave Union Saint-Gilloise the lead again.

After Curtis Jones was taken out of the game, Amoura received the pass and was able to run past Caoimhin Kelleher to score the first goal. The goal was examined by VAR prior to confirmation.

Even if VAR is more accurate than referees on the field, some calls are still contested.

However, Klopp’s comments during the press conference held after the game strongly imply that he is not too pleased with the goal’s assignment and the ensuing defeat.

“Everyone witnessed the same game, which USG won well. Who cares if the first goal is offside because we weren’t able to see it? stated the Liverpool manager.

“A formidable team leading the league. In the end, we gave it a legitimate game.

Alisson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, and Mohamed Salah did not even travel to Belgium because Liverpool’s Premier League match against Manchester United on Sunday was the main reason for their absence.

Prior to the match at Anfield, Arsenal and Aston Villa both have the chance to overtake Liverpool atop the Premier League standings when they face Brentford and Brighton, respectively, earlier in the day.

But if the team loses to the struggling Red Devils, we doubt Klopp will appear to be as laid back as he did before.
