Did Kourtney Kardashianand Travis Barker name their baby after Kim Kardashian’s dog?
Most likely not, but fans of the family’s reality series aren’t so willing to let the idea die.
The conspiracy theory (if you want even to call it that) began to gain traction on TikTok last fall, but was recently stirred up again by a Reddit user, who, after re-watching old episodes of the show, realized that the couple’s newborn isn’t the first addition to the Kardashian family to be named Rocky.
“I was watching Season 5 of ‘KUWTK’ and Kim had her pet Boxer named Rocky,” the person shared on the popular internet forum r/KardashianSnark. “I don’t think I would ever name my baby after a family pet’s name,” they added.
“They all probably completely forgot about that!” one user replied. “I can’t imagine Kourtney remembering a dog from years ago.”
To which the original poster (OP) wrote back, “Makes me sad for Rocky (the dog), though lol. I can remember all of the pets that I’ve had. You would [think] that if they announced the name, Kim would have said something like, ‘that was my dog’s name.’ I guess she forgot too? I think that was her and Reggie’s dog.”
OP was correct about at least one thing: Kim, now 43, shared her dog, Rocky, with ex-boyfriend Reggie Bush. The reality star and former NFL running back dated for about two years before their 2009 split.

A year later, in an interview with People, the SKIMS founder described herself as Rocky’s “mommy.” She also recounted introducing Kourtney’s then 6-year-old son Mason to the pup, and her older sister wasn’t happy about it.
“Rocky was licking Mason in the face, and Kourtney was mad at me,” Kim told the outlet at the time. “I was like, ‘No, they need to meet!’ It was really funny. And Rocky did calm down after a little bit.”
Though fans have their own opinions on how the baby’s name came to be–even joking that Kim will accuse Kourtney of “stealing” her pet name as a plot line for the next season of their Hulu series, a call back to the sisters’ wedding-related tiff–the 44-year-old mother of four’s husband previously opened up about his affinity for the name.
Last summer, the Blink-182 drummer and his teenage daughter Alabama sat down for Complex’s “GOAT Talk,” where the father-daughter duo had to share what they believed were the best things in different categories. At the end, the last question was “GOAT baby names.”
Alabama picked Audemars, seemingly inspired by the Swiss luxury watch brand and Milan. Her dad then shared his pick, saying, “I like Rocky 13.” At the time, his daughter pushed back against the moniker, exclaiming, “That’s so bad!” While the producer agreed that “it is bad,” he defended his stance, noting that it’s a “name that’s been going through my head lately.”
Apparently, as time went on, acceptance of the name grew because months later, in October 2023, Barker confirmed the baby’s due date and that he and Kourtney agreed on naming their first son together Rocky Thirteen.
