Mbappe: ‘I deserve the money I make’

Striker Kylian Mbappe is proud of the huge amount of money he earns from football and revealed that his mother forced him to clean the classroom when he was a child.

“When I was 12 years old, I knew that playing football could make a lot of money. I deserved the money I made. I didn’t steal from anyone. That’s how the world works. I always believed that I could become successful.” success and become a world-class star,” Mbappe shared with Envoye Special TV channel .

At the age of 24, Mbappe is one of the highest-earning players in the world. Last year, he ranked third on Forbes’ list of highest-paid athletes , behind only Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. Specifically, the French player pocketed 120 million USD in a year, with 100 million USD from the contract with PSG and 20 million USD in advertising income from outside. In addition, Mbappe owns huge sponsorship contracts with sportswear company Nike or watch company Hublot. In 2020, he was featured by EA Sports on the cover of the famous game FIFA 21. Mbappe is the youngest player to appear alone on the cover of this game.

Mbappe’s success is largely influenced by his mother, Fayza Lamari. The French captain revealed that he was forced by his mother to clean the classroom during the week Real Madrid invited him to visit the club without understanding why.

“My mother took me to class and made me clean. That was the week I was invited by Real Madrid to visit the club for four days,” Mbappe recounted. “I saw all the stars and equipment of the club. Then, I was forced to clean for three days. Now I see it’s not so bad. But at that time, I didn’t understand why I I have to do that. I have to try to stay calm.”

The 24-year-old striker also shared his memories of winning the 2018 World Cup with France, saying he was not “so happy that he went crazy”. With the 2022 World Cup, Mbappe thinks it is a step on the journey to glory. The striker playing for PSG said he was willing to exchange his goals for France to win against Argentina in the final.

Mbappe has never talked about his intention to compete in the Olympics – a tournament he has not participated in even though he was a star when he was only 17 years old. But in this interview, the 24-year-old striker confessed his desire to compete in the Olympics provided the club allows him.
