Conor McGregor’s mega flats neighbours ‘hung out to dry’ after free washing machines & dryers ‘broken promises’

RESIDENTS living by Conor McGregor’s mega flats project have been left in a spin after they say his firm failed to cough up washing machines and dryers to help with laundry caused by dirty drilling.

A number of locals believed they had more or less shaken on a deal with McGregor Sports and Entertainment for assistance in relation to the works.

Their homes are located beside the construction site for a mammoth nine-storey, 188-unit build-to-rent apartment scheme that McGregor has purchased.

Works have already commenced on the Heidelberg scheme in Dublin’s Drimnagh — leaving locals facing a load of noise and dust issues.

After a series of meetings between the residents and representatives of McGregor Sports and Entertainment, locals say homes affected by the tower block build had been promised new washing machines and dryers.

They also believed their windows were to be washed once a week and they would get help to wash their cars.

But furious residents insist McGregor Sports and Entertainment have not delivered on what they promised.

The reeling residents last night told The Irish Sun how the laundry issue is still unfolding despite the construction of Mac Towers getting under way.

They say no washing machines and dryers have been delivered and they feel like they’ve been “hung out to dry”.

One local told us: “There have been so many broken promises.”

The local continued: “The residents can’t put their laundry out in the back garden like normal because of the works.

“They had meetings with McGregor Sports and Entertainment in advance of the works and they promised washing machines and washer dryers for each house affected.

“But they have not received them. They feel angry and totally let down.”

Residents reps in the area confirmed to The Irish Sun that the washing machine and dryer controversy had caused friction between locals and representatives of McGregor Sports and Entertainment.

McGregor’s representatives were contacted by The Irish Sun about the issue but they did not comment.

DEMOLISH PLAN

The controversial cage fighter’s construction spree in his native Drimnagh is fast becoming a sore point.

MMA star McGregor recently submitted proposals for a second major apartment block complex in Drimnagh.

The multi-million euro scheme would see the erection of an eight-storey, 113-unit block adjacent to the Heidelberg site.

Emrajare Ltd submitted a plan to Dublin City Council that involves the demolition of the Marble Arch pub McGregor purchased for a reported €2million two years ago.

The firm’s application says they will then demolish the warehouse buildings and other structures on site.

In their place Emrajare’s three-storey apartment scheme would include a gym, restaurant/bar/cafe and retail unit on the 0.72-acre site.

The mixed use plan will be for 57 two-bed units, 53 one-bed units and three studios.

But Emrajare’s plans were rejected by council chiefs for its design and excessive height, scale and density.

Emrajare Ltd now has the option of appealing the Council’s refusal to An Bord Pleanala or it can lodge revised plans direct to Dublin City Council.
