Man United fans laud ‘generational talent’ Kobbie Mainoo and jokingly compare him to Lionel Messi – after the 18-year-old scored a 97th-minute wondergoal

Manchester fans have hailed the talent of Kobbie Mainoo after the youngster produced a stunning run and finish to secure victory for the Red Devils over Wolves at Molineux.

Erik ten Hag‘s dominated proceedings for long stretches and enjoyed a comfortable 2-0 advantage heading into the final 20 minutes. But the game suddenly took a chaotic turn once the home side converted a controversial penalty.

United restored their two-goal lead just four minutes later but Gary O’Neil’s side hit back again in the 85th minute to set up a tense ending. Those fears were realised when Pedro Neto grabbed what looked to be a late equaliser in the fifth minute of a lengthy period of stoppage time.

Only for the 18-year-old Mainoo to produce a moment of individual quality that ensured the Old Trafford club left the West Midlands with the points they deserved.

The academy product executed a precise slaloming run before cutting onto his right foot and bending an effort past Jose Sa in the Wolves goal.
