Could another £100m midfielder be heading to Chelsea this summer?
In the last summer transfer window, Chelsea paid Brighton & Hove Albion £115m to sign Moises Caicedo.
Before that, the club spent £107m on Enzo Fernandez, bringing the midfielder in from Benfica.
Do Chelsea need to do more deals like that? Probably not, especially with the Blues needing to be careful of profit and sustainability rules.
Nevertheless, they still appear to like another £100m and Fabrizio Romano can actually see him leaving his current employers this summer. The Italian journalist has also hinted at a potential move for Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.

£100m midfielder leaving Premier League club a possibility
Chelsea may have to replace Conor Gallagher at the end of the season.
The 24-year-old’s contract expires next summer, so the Blues could cash in when the transfer window opens to avoid the risk of losing him for nothing later down the line.
According to HITC, Chelsea have been impressed with Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimaraes, so perhaps he could be an option to come in.
Speaking about the Brazilian in his column on Substack, Romano said: “I think a summer exit for Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle is a possibility.”
The transfer expert also claimed that Guimaraes has a release clause in his contract worth about £100m.
The only £100m player Chelsea should sign this summer — It’s not Bruno Guimaraes
Chelsea spending £100m on another midfielder would be peak Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital.
Looking at the Blues’ squad, it is not something they should be doing. If they are willing to spend that kind of money on a single player, or rather if they can, then it has to be on a centre-forward like Osimhen.
Another season where Nicolas Jackson is the main man with little support would be worrying.
Chelsea need to make moves that are going to get them out of ninth place. Another £100m midfielder will not help them do that.
