Deontay Wilder wants to fight winner of Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk and says goal is to ‘wipe out the entire division’

Deontay Wilder remains determined to establish himself as the number one heavyweight in the world.

‘The Bronze Bomber’ reigned as WBC heavyweight champion from 2015-2020, making ten title defences in that time.

But, between 2018 and 2021, Wilder came up against Tyson Fury on three occasions, drawing the first, but then he was knocked out in the rematch and the trilogy, as ‘The Bronze Bomber’ was dethroned.

In the two years since that final fight with Fury, Wilder has only fought once, knocking out Robert Helenius in one round.

But now, he is re-motivated and wants to work his way back to the top of the heavyweight division.

As for who Wilder will have to beat to get there, that will be determined on February 17 when Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk fight to crown the first undisputed heavyweight world champion of the four belt era.

But, whoever wins, Wilder is up for the challenge, as he said on the Last Stand Podcast: “If you’ve got all the belts, you’re gonna have to fight me…

“That’s still my goal – wipe out the entire division.”

Before that, however, Wilder will have to get past former heavyweight world champion Joseph Parker, who he fights on December 23.

This will come on the same card as Anthony Joshua vs Otto Wallin, with the expectation being that AJ and Wilder will then fight each other.

And while Wilder is confident a clash with Joshua will happen, he does not believe that the Brit’s promoter and Matchroom Boxing chairman, Eddie Hearn, wants it to.

“He don’t want that fight because he’s not confident in his product,” Wilder said.

“Joshua is the only money-making fighter Matchroom has.

“They don’t wanna see their business fall to the likes of me, someone that can end someone’s career.”
