Jada Pinkett Smith reacted aggressively when her parenting style was questioned after her daughter’s pic went viral.
Will Smith is undoubtedly one of the biggest stars Hollywood has seen in the last three decades. However, since 2020, the Oscar-winning actress, who holds the record of delivering most consecutive $100 million+ hits at the U.S. box office, hasn’t hit the scene with a big theatrical release.

Having said that, the lack of blockbusters hasn’t had much impact on Smith’s penchant to make headlines, with the 55-year-old instead attracting camera flashes due to his controversial – for lack of a better word – personal life. From his ever-changing relationship status with Jada Pinkett Smith to his laid-back parenting style, one way or another Smith always remains a subject of huge interest for the media. In 2014, he was in the spotlight for the latter after a pic of his 13-year-old daughter went viral.
How Jada Pinkett Smith Defended Will Smith and Her Laid-Back Parenting Style
Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, who first met on the set of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air in 1990, tied the knot in 1997 after a few years of dating. Despite countless controversial rumors, their relationship has lasted for nearly three decades and has seen the pair share two kids, Jaden Smith (25) and Willow Smith (23).

Like their parents, both Jaden and Willow are extremely talented and have already left their mark in the industry through their appearances in movies like I Am Legend, The Pursuit of Happyness, and Merry Madagascar among others. They’ve also tried their hands in music. However, like their parents, they also frequently attract headlines – and not always for the right reasons.
In 2014, Willow’s photo of her when she was 13 years old posing in bed with Hannah Montana actor Moises Arias (20) hit the internet, leading to many questioning Will and Jada’s laid-back parenting style, as some thought their daughter was too young for that kind of photo. Needless to say, Jada came all guns blazing to shut down such suggestions, stating to TMZ:
“There was nothing s-xual about that picture or that situation. You guys are projecting your trash onto it and you’re acting like covert pedophiles and that’s not cool.”
During the same period, Jada also faced questions about letting Willow shave her head at the age of 12. The Collateral star defended that move by saying it is a statement that suggests even little girls have the right to own themselves and that her daughter’s beauty and worth are not measured by the length of her hair (via Independent).
Willow Smith’s Introduction to S-x Was Very Embarrassing
Jada’s arguments are very valid in their own right. However, even her biggest supporter would agree that some incidents involving their kids are just unorthodox, to say the least.

Willow talked about one such moment with her mother and grandmother Adrienne Banfield-Jones during their talk show Red Table Talk in 2018, revealing: “My introduction to s-x was obviously walking in on you and Daddy.”
When surprised Jada, 52, asked when the “hell” she walked in on them, Willow divulged that it happened in Aspen when she was going downstairs to get some juice. The Whip My Hair singer added that she felt she had overstepped a boundary at the time.
