While there are a lot of reasons for the Golden State Warriors to be frustrated with Draymond Green’s antics, one of the biggest is how often he is making himself unavailable for them. Ejected for the third time this season in Tuesday night’s game vs. the Phoenix Suns, Green is likely also facing a suspension just six games after returning from one.
Following the loss to Phoenix, Warriors star Steph Curry was asked about Green’s ejection for hitting Jusuf Nurkic, and said the Warriors need everyone available.
“All the pieces fit for a reason,” Curry said of Golden State’s roster construction. “They have for a very long time. So when you’re missing one, it’s tough. We still had opportunities to win the game tonight. I didn’t shoot the ball well in the second half… We want to be able to overcome the incident, [Green’s] ejection… but we need everybody available, that’s how we’re built. It’s no secret to our success.”
This has been the message from Curry and others the last several times Green has been involved in something like this. While Green is not the same player he once was, he is still integral to Golden State’s success, and seriously hinders the team whenever he makes himself unavailable.
Not only was Green unable to finish that game, but he will also likely face another suspension.
