Luke Shaw and Marcus Rashford fit for Manchester United’s trip to Liverpool on Sunday…

Luke Shaw and Marcus Rashford are expected to be fit for Manchester United‘s crunch visit to Anfield on Sunday.

Shaw limped out of Tuesday’s Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich with a hamstring problem, just two-and-a-half weeks after returning from a long-term lay-off with a thigh muscle injury.

Rashford missed the game through illness as he continues to struggle in a season that has produced just two goals for the misfiring forward.

But Erik ten Hag confirmed that both players are likely to be fit to face current Premier League leaders Liverpool at Anfield, where Ten Hag was thrashed 7-0 on his previous visit as United manager in March.

There was more good news for United as Ten Hag revealed that the groin injury Harry Maguire sustained against Bayern is not as bad as first feared.

IT’S ALL KICKING OFF!

It’s All Kicking Off is an exciting new podcast from Mail Sport that promises a different take on Premier League football.

It is available on MailOnline, Mail+, YouTube, Apple Music and Spotify.

‘So Harry will not be available for the coming games but we don’t think it is a long-term,’ said the Dutchman.

‘Luke Shaw trained this morning so we think he is available or Sunday. Marcus Rashford is back, (Anthony) Martial not .’

Ten Hag wouldn’t say who will captain United in the absence of the suspended Bruno Fernandes, and he is without a number of other senior players through injury.

He agreed that one benefit of going out of Europe will a lighter workload on his squad which should mean fewer injuries.

‘Yeah, I think that is true,’ added Ten Hag. ‘We have had so many injuries in the first part of the season, now we have less games so the load will be less.

‘That will give players opportunities to recover and more time on the training pitch, we will be fresher in the games.’
