“I Made That Girl Rewrite Her Verse Three Times For ‘Monster.’ I Supported Her Career. So I Don’t Know What It Is. But We Going To Get This Or We Just Ain’t Going To Push It,” West Said, Hinting At A Possible Cancellation Of The Album’s Release.
Kanye West is calling out Nicki Minaj after she refused to give him permission to release their track, ‘New Body,’ for his new album
Kanye West has responded to Nicki Minaj after she refused to let him release their collaboration.
West was expected to release a joint album with Ty Dolla $ign on Friday, Dec. 15. While it has still not appeared on streaming platforms, the album — titled Vultures — was reportedly going to include Future, Playboi Carti, Freddie Gibbs and more. The rapper’s daughter with Kim Kardashian, North West, also makes an appearance on the LP.
“New Body,” originally produced for West’s scrapped 2018 album Yandhi, was seemingly set to be included on the album. However, Minaj is not giving West permission to release the track.
West took to X to make a public plea for Minaj to give him clearance for the release. He posted a screenshot of a text he sent to her, saying: “Hi it’s Ye. May I call you about clearing new body on the new album.”
West is now implying that Minaj is holding up the release of the album, NME reports. Following the release of her new Pink Friday 2 album, the “Super Freaky Girl” rapper says “the train has left the station” when it comes to their collaboration.
“No disrespect in any way, I just put out a brand new album,” she said on Instagram live. “Why would I put out a song that has been out for three years? Come on, guys.”
The 46-year-old rapper clapped back at Minaj’s statement at a listening party for the new album, implying that the help he had given her throughout her career should push her to grant him permission.
“I made that girl rewrite her verse three times for ‘Monster.’ I supported her career. So I don’t know what it is. But we going to get this or we just ain’t going to push it,” West said, hinting at a possible cancellation of the album’s release.
The album is slated to be West’s first release after he faced heat for making anti-Semitic remarks in 2022. The album reportedly references the incident, with a lyric on the title track saying: “How I’m anti-Semitic? I just f—ed a Jewish bitch.”
