Drake puts $250,000 bet on Leon Edwards to KO Colby Covington in UFC title fight

Drake will be in the money tonight if Leon Edwards can knockout Colby Covington in their UFC welterweight title fight.

Edwards makes the second defence of his world title in the main event of UFC 296 against Covington, who has previously come up short in his past two undisputed title fights. Drake is backing ‘Rocky’ to convincingly settle his feud with Covington as he put $250,000 on the Brit to win by KO and the bet would return $1.2million if it wins.

Drake is no stranger to putting down huge money on UFC fights as he lost out on $920,000 when Israel Adesanya shockingly lost his UFC middleweight title to Sean Strickland in September. The rapper has enjoyed some big winnings this year as he won $2.7million when Adesanya knocked out Alex Pereira in April and $1.7milllion when Jon Jones became a two-weight champion in March.

The five-time grammy award winner first gained notoriety for his UFC bets when he backed Jorge Masvidal to beat Colby Covington in their grudge fight last March. Drake lost $275,000 on the fight and his bad luck continued when Justin Gaethje was choked out by Charles Oliveira in their lightweight title fight two months later.

Covington has likened his fight against Edwards to the 1776 American Revolutionary War and he dressed up as George Washington. for their press conference earlier this week. Tempers flared between the rivals when Covington made a joke about Edwards’ late dad, who was murdered in a London nightclub when the Brit was just 13

“You’re the stupidest guy on the UFC roster, on Saturday night I’m bringing you to a place you never want to be. I’m bringing you to the seventh layer of hell, we’ll say what’s up to your dad whilst we’re there,” Covington said. A furious Edwards responded to Covington’s disgusting remark by throwing a water bottle at him before they were separated by security.
