Erling Haaland strolls around Manchester after landing in the UK on a private jet to sign his £400,000-per-week deal

Erling Haaland has been snapped strolling around Manchester on Tuesday night after the £51million hotshot landed in England to complete the final formalities of his move from Borussia Dortmund to Man City.

The Premier League champions announced two weeks ago that the Norway international will join Pep Guardiola’s squad for next season after beating Real Madrid to his signature.

The 21-year-old landed at Manchester Airport in a private jet on Tuesday afternoon from Barcelona where he underwent medical checks.

Haaland – who is due to meet with City executives on Tuesday evening – was spotted walking around the city centre with his entourage in the early evening.

It is expected the Norwegian will then visit City’s training ground on Wednesday, pose for pictures and undergo an interview at the City Football Academy, though this is not expected to be released until next week.

Haaland underwent a medical examination from doctor Ramon Cugat, whom Guardiola has worked with closely in the past and often checks the fitness of City players, according to The Times.

Guardiola is said to want Cugat to check Haaland’s fitness given the striker’s injury problems this season – he missed eight of Dortmund’s final 20 matches in the 2021-22 season.

City chief executive Ferran Soriano, meanwhile, believes the English champions have got a good deal despite Haaland’s expensive £400,000-a-week wages.

He told Catalan radio station RAC1: ‘We are evolving to a time when the big players can choose, and Haaland has chosen us.

‘You have seen the transfer figures, and they are very reasonable. The salary we are paying him is what we can afford and what he is entitled to.

‘He has had all the peace of mind and the time to choose where to play. We have been close to him, we have explained the project to him, but the money could have been given to him by United, Bayern or Real Madrid. He has decided where he wants to go and we are happy.

‘Our focus is on football, on playing well and winning, rather than on star players. And we lacked a centre forward.

‘We had someone spectacular like [Sergio] Agüero, we lost him because of his age, and we have spent more than a year looking for a replacement and Haaland is it. We will introduce him soon.’
