1D superstar berates the fact Zayn felt the need to trash 1D’s music after going solo as he reveals how he felt about his romance with Taylor Swift

HARRY Styles says it’s “a shame” his former One Direction band mate Zayn Malik has distanced himself from their work together, and claims to hate the group’s music.

Zayn, 24, went solo just over a year ago after quitting the boy band and has had success with his solo music, as Harry is no doubt hoping to do now he’s released his first single Sign Of The Times.

But 23-year-old Harry isn’t entirely at peace with what Zayn said about the band in 2015: “Would you listen to One Direction, sat at a party with your girl? I wouldn’t.”

Speaking to Rolling Stone, Harry has now made his views on Zayn’s defection from the 1D fold pretty plain.

“I think it’s a shame he felt that way,” he said, “but I never wish anything but luck to anyone doing what they love.

“If you’re not enjoying something and need to do something else, you absolutely should do that.

“I’m glad he’s doing what he likes, and good luck to him,” he added.

Harry is hoping for good luck himself as he’s about to release his own debut solo album, and has admitted he’s very uncertain about how the music will go down, now he’s released the first single and artwork.

“Of course I’m nervous,” Styles said. “I mean, I’ve never done this before. “I don’t know what the f*** I’m doing…

“I’m still learning …  but it’s my favourite lesson.”

Indeed, Harry has learned from the best, including his ex Taylor Swift, who has written several songs that are likely to be about him.

And Harry actually counts himself “lucky” that Taylor wrote Style and Out Of The Woods about their brief romance, which began around the time they were snapped strolling together in Central Park in 2012.

Asked what he thinks of those photos, the Redditch native said: “Relationships are hard, at any age. And adding in that you don’t really understand exactly how it works when you’re 18, trying to navigate all that stuff didn’t make it easier.

“I mean, you’re a little bit awkward to begin with.

“You’re on a date with someone you really like. It should be that simple, right? It was a learning experience for sure. But at the heart of it – I just wanted it to be a normal date.”

He added that Taylor’s songs about him were “great” because they contained “unspoken dialogue”, before admitting that another woman has inspired the majority of his album.

Without naming the lady in question, who may well be Kendall Jenner, Harry added: “Sometimes you want to tip the hat, and sometimes you just want to give them the whole cap… and hope they know it’s just for them.”
