Charlie Woods, the son of the renowned golfer Tiger Woods, has achieved an accolade his father did not – a victory at Western High School in Anaheim, California. As a 9th grader, Charlie Woods contributed to The Benjamin School’s triumph in the FHSAA Class A championship.
The event was held at the Mission Inn Resort and Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida. Throughout the event, he registered scores of 78 and 76, which positioned him tied for 26th place overall and fourth among his team members.
It was their fourth state golf title victory which was organized in Palm Beach Gardens by Benjamin Field. Leading the team’s success was sophomore Jake Valentine, whose performance, was punctuated by a decisive birdie on the 17th hole and a final putt.
Valentine ensured his tie for eighth place with rounds of 72 and 76. Tiger Woods supported his son‘s team; however, he did not achieve victory in a California state high school championship while attending Western High School.

At that time, the California Interscholastic Federation did not conduct the state golf championship. Nevertheless, Tiger Woods left an indelible mark by winning the next major championships. Additionally, he set a record as the youngest champion of the U.S. Junior Amateur in 1991, a feat he would replicate two more times.

Thus far in the course, a mere 𝑠e𝑥tet of participants has achieved scores of par or superior, indicating a challenging progression. Charlie’s score of 78 on the first day landed him in a tie for 36th place.
