A brilliant Nigerian scientist named Ngozi Edum has won three scholarships to earn a Master’s degree in Germany, the Netherlands and Finland all at the same time after several rejections.
Ngozi Edum announced her decision to enrol for a Master’s degree MSc in European Forestry at the University of Eastern Finland with a Fully Funded Erasmus Mundus European Scholarship. The Erasmus Mundus Scholarship offers Full Funding to International Students and between €1400 – €1500 monthly stipend.
Ngozi Edum while narrating her scholarship journey explained that she received several rejections and was placed on reserve for some postgraduate applications. “In 2021 I began the journey again, and I am happy that I received my YES. I didn’t just receive one YES, I got 3 offers,” she said.
Explaining the three (3) scholarships she won at the same time, Ngozi said she won Germany DAAD EPOS Scholarship to study Tropical Forestry at Technische Universität Dresden. She also won the Africa Scholarship Programme to study Forest and Nature Conservation at Wageningen University & Research in the Netherlands.
Just like the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship, the Germany DAAD Scholarship also offers Fully Funded Scholarships for International Students with €10,792 annual stipends to study in Germany. Application for is 2023 version closed in August.
After receiving three scholarship offers simultaneously, Ngozi Edum had to decline two offers and accept the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship to study in Finland. Explaining her reason for choosing Finland, she said; “Selecting the European Forestry was a choice of studying the European Forest and learning in practice the Bioenergy and Bioeconomy that has the potential to solve the climate crisis.”
She expressed delight in starting a new academic journey at the University of Eastern Finland. “I am excited about the new journey and hope this choice will be worth it. I want to thank everyone that has been part of this journey,” she said.
