Steph Curry’s father, Dell Curry, remarries after divorce: ‘Life is great right now’

Life is “great” for Dell Curry, the father of NBA stars Steph and Seth Curry.

In a wide-ranging interview with The Charlotte Observer, Dell — a former NBA shooting guard who spent 10 seasons with the Hornets during his 16-year career — spoke about getting married again following his high-profile divorce from Sonya Curry, which included accusations of infidelity from both parties.

“Yes. It’s great. … I didn’t know what I was gonna do (after the divorce). I thought about going to the West Coast. I’m like, ‘Nah, I’m not gonna follow my sons. I’m going to stick it out. Hang here,’” Dell said on the publication’s “Sports Legends of the Carolinas” podcast.

“And then I had friends who introduced me to my wife now. I’d met her a couple of times. We talked on the phone for a month before I laid eyes on her. I’m like: ‘Oh, I like this girl, man. What’s going on here?’”

The 59-year-old Dell, who has been married to a woman named Nicki for “almost a year,” then elaborated on his current emotional state.

“I wasn’t going to get married again. But life is great right now. It couldn’t be better. For me, I’m at a great place in my life. My home situation is sound. My kids and their families are doing great. They’re happy for me. I’m happy for them. So life’s good,” he said.

Dell and Sonya originally wed in 1988 and are parents to Steph, 35, Seth, 33, and daughter Sydel, 29.

Sonya filed for divorce from Dell in June 2021.

Dell accused Sonya of having an extramarital affair with Steven Johnson, a former NFL player, in court docs obtained by TMZ in August 2021.

Sonya also accused Dell of being unfaithful during their union.

Months after Sonya filed for divorce, she and Dell supported Steph during the Warriors’ championship run in June 2022.

They were spotted at TD Garden for Game 4 of the 2022 NBA Finals against the Celtics, taking in the contest with their significant others.

Sonya was seen with Johnson while Dell was spotted with Nicki Smith.

Dell retired from the NBA in 2002.

He is now an analyst for the Hornets’ TV broadcast.
