We all do our best to choose amazing outfits, especially ones that look great frontally. It makes sense because it is the first thing others will see when approaching us.
But today, we will talk about celebrity dresses whose magic was on their backs. Dresses that, when seen from the front, were not bad at all, of course. But when celebs walked the red carpet in them, they left everyone speechless because of how beautiful they looked from the back.
1. Lily Collins
This young and beautiful actress wore a dress by designer Zuhair Murad to the Golden Globes, which was worthy of a fairy tale princess. It was a lovely pale pink dress full of details; flowers, tulle, rhinestones, flight, and transparencies, all so well-structured and combined that it was not overloaded. And as a finishing touch, a delicate open back which almost seems tattooed on the model’s soft skin.
2. Olivia Wilde
This actress chose an ivory-colored dress with a plunging neckline and fully pleated for the 88th edition of the Academy Awards, better known as the Oscars. The design, by reputed Italian designer Valentino, had a modern and innovative touch that did not take long to catch people’s attention. Even more so after seeing its back cut with covered shoulders but framing an open back in two subtle pleated ruffles.
3. Karlie Kloss
This dress by designer Prabal Gurung that Karlie chose to wear at the Vogue Awards didn’t seem so special at first sight. However, looking at it from other angles, you can quickly tell it’s a masterpiece. This chameleon-like outfit, white on one side, tricolor on the other, and with an exquisite deep-draped back, is the perfect combination of sobriety, asymmetry, and femininity.
4. Bella Hadid
We have seen her in short dresses, long dresses, with all kinds of cuts, pants, and suits, but nothing compared to this stunning red dress she wore at the Cannes Film Festival. It almost made her look like a goddess from Olympus. This work of textile art by designer Alexandre Vauthier is just fabulous.
5. Eva Longoria
Eva appeared at the premiere of The Killing of a Sacred Deer, showing off her curves in a nude dress from the American house Marchesa. If the deep neckline design, both front and back, was stunning, its decoration of floral embroidery and rhinestones gave it a final touch of elegance.
6. Rachel McAdams\
For such a special occasion as her first Oscar nomination, she chose an outfit totally up to the task and the color of hope. Perhaps it was an unconscious way to show everyone how much she was looking forward to the award. The August Gett atelier design, although simple, without details, and light and comfortable, had an extremely feminine cut, which fit like a glove on the actress’s body and looked dreamy.
7. Kate Hudson
Thanks to her Versace dress, Kate proved that being a mother twice has not dented her figure on the red carpet. It had a plunging neckline and slits decorated with rhinestones on the sides, delicately highlighting her shape. To top it off, a small white tail, similar to that of a bride. And if she exuded luxury and elegance from the front, the back could not be less.
8. Charlize Theron
With this beautiful design of the London house Alexander McQueen, the actress confirmed that you could look stunning without revealing too much. No neckline or openings in front, totally closed and without any decoration other than a few gold rhinestones on both shoulders. A demure and stately front for an opposite back; modern, open, and fitted. A dress that is as unique as she is.
9. Scarlett Johansson
Dolce & Gabbana was in charge of customizing Scarlett’s outfit that night. The result was a dress made entirely of lace in different shades of violet, simple and natural, like her. It was closed on the front closed with a jewel neckline, but in the back, it had lines that flattered her body thanks to a beautiful circular neckline.
10. Cate Blanchett
A dress as fabulous as this one deserves to be seen, so this actress skipped that unwritten protocol that you can not repeat an outfit and wore it more than once, even at the risk of being criticized. The dress was made by Armani, who chose to contrast her sober but magnificent front with an original deep neckline of soft shapes in the back.
If you could be a celebrity for a day, what dress would you wear to the red carpet?
