Anthony Joshua’s stunning earnings for 2023 … as the full details of the former heavyweight king’s lucrative year are laid out after three straight wins

The full details of Anthony Joshua‘s staggering earnings for 2023 have been revealed.

After back-to-back losses against Oleksandr Usyk in 2021 and 2022, AJ began his ascent back up the heavyweight ranks with a decision win over Jermaine Franklin in April.

The former unified heavyweight king then continued on the comeback trail with a massive KO of late-replacement Robert Helenius in August before capping off his year by stopping Otto Wallin in Saudi Arabia to reassert himself a top contender.

Accounts from the 34-year-old’s Sparta Promotions company reveal Joshua banked an eye watering £41.3m in the 2022/23 financial year, a figure that does not include his income from the Helenius and Wallin fights.

Divided of the course of a year, the mammoth sum equates to a pre-tax income of £113,000-a-day.

The former heavyweight champion’s Sparta Promotions had a turnover of £41.3m

Such large profits are bound to come with a sizeable tax bill, and Joshua was required to pay close to £7m on his income across the financial year.

This figure also represents a huge increase on the previous year, where the company’s turnover was £20.1m during the period in which he was defeated by the Ukrainian at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Sparta Promotions now have a total equity of just shy of £130m, a figure that will no doubt have increased significantly at the time of next year’s accounts given Joshua’s activity.

After three fights in just eight months in 2023, Joshua’s return to the ring this year has already been confirmed as he is set to return to Saudi Arabia to take on Francis Ngannou on March 8.

Reports suggest Joshua will earn £31m to face the former UFC heavyweight champion over ten rounds in Riyadh, while Ngannou will receive around half that amount.

The event will also feature a heavyweight clash between Zhilei Zhang and former world champion Joseph Parker.

Zhang enjoyed a fruitful 2023, picking up back-to-back wins against Joe Joyce to solidify the 40-year-old as a potential title challenger.

Parker meanwhile picked up arguably the biggest win of his professional career to date back in December, comprehensively stifling Deontay Wilder’s vaunted KO power en route to a decision victory.
