With the signing of Kylian Mbappe all but sealed, MARCA is reporting that Real Madrid are all set to start negotiations with Bayern Munich for the signing of Alphonso Davies.
The 23-year-old is one of the top targets for Los Blancos heading into the summer transfer window, along with Mbappe, and with the Frenchman all set to arrive, the focus will now shift to the Canadian left-back.
Negotiations to start, player wants to join
Following a meeting in Munich a few days ago between Davies’ agent, Nedal Huoseh, and Bayern’s sporting director Christoph Freund, the Bavarian club have already assumed that Davies does not want to renew his contract, which expires on 30 June 2025.
That is because he has long ago decided to join Real Madrid. For more than a year now, Los Merengues has kept the Canadian as one of their strategic targets. For that, of course, he cannot renew his contract with Bayern.
Davies’ case follows a very similar pattern to that of Jude Bellingham last season when he had one more season left on his contract with Borussia Dortmund.
Bellingham made it clear to the Dortmund board that he would accept no other destination club than Real Madrid, and Davies is expected to do the same with Bayern Munich.
Bayern want €50 million
Bayern Munich are resigned to try to get the maximum possible for Davies’ transfer. The German champions are already looking at Milan’s Theo Hernandez as a possible replacement. And they will ask for around €50 million for the Real Madrid target.
The Valdebebas offices are preparing to enter the transfer phase that directly affects the negotiation between the two clubs, once Florentino Perez gives the go-ahead.
It is very likely that Real Madrid will start with a lower offer, around €35 million, given that Davies has just one year left on his contract. But Madrid are usually very tactful in negotiations and will not skimp a couple of million in order to get the deal done to the satisfaction of all parties involved.
