According to Mirror Football, Getafe forward Mason Greenwood has informed his team that he does not want Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham to face any consequences, and he has requested them to stop pursuing the matter as he aims to avoid negative attention and focus on enjoying his football.
Earlier this month, Real Madrid beat Getafe away from home, with Joselu scoring a brace in a 2-0 win. While the victory was rather comfortable, Bellingham’s tussle with Greenwood became the centre of attention.
The Madrid midfielder was caught on camera mumbling some words towards the Manchester United forward. It is suggested that the 20-year-old called him a ‘r*pist’, following which Getafe asked the match officials to take note of the incident.
Greenwood does not want to be in the limelight
As it turns out, Spanish Football leaders quickly started looking into the matter, but now it is being said that Greenwood wants them to stop the investigation.

The 22-year-old prefers to focus on his football, even though he felt really upset and surprised that the issue arose from Bellingham, who happens to be his national teammate when Greenwood was active on the international circuit.
“Mason has told them he doesn’t want Jude to be punished and has asked them to drop it,” a source was quoted by the aforementioned publication.
“He doesn’t want bad publicity and wants to get on with playing football. He was very upset at the time as he didn’t expect it from someone like Jude. But he knows he’s always likely to be a target for that kind of stuff so he’s accepted he’ll need a thick skin,” he added.
It is to be noted that before moving to Getafe, Greenwood was battling a case involving attempted rape and assault in England, which was dropped in February 2023.
