Palmer and Mudryk will get all the credit, but £30m Chelsea man should get the plaudits after last night’s win

Plenty of Chelsea players will be getting a lot of praise from the media following their performances in the 3-2 win last night against Newcastle United.

They avoided a number of scares to come away from Stamford Bridge with all three points, and take a step closer to the sides above them who are chasing European football.

Nicolas Jackson opened the scoring for the Blues just minutes into the game with a delicate little flick that diverted a Cole Palmer shot goalwards.

There were no doubts over Palmer’s intentions after half-time though, when he powerfully struck home to restore their lead at the time.

Mykhailo Mudryk came off the bench to put some brilliant finishing touches on proceedings, with him making a point to Mauricio Pochettino that he should be getting more minutes.

The brilliance of the goalscrores will clearly get a lot of credit for their parts in the victory, however there is a player who may go under the radar for his part in proceedings.

Gusto deserves credit for Chelsea win

Malo Gusto has been relied upon as a the number one choice right-back for the majority of his first season at Stamford Bridge since the £30m move.

The Frenchman has proven to be one of the better players for the club in this time too, at a crucial time for them.

Trying to fill the shoes of club captain Reece James is no easy feat, but the fact that his absence has not been felt too hard is one of the best compliments that can be paid to him.

Last night was no different as he impressed at both ends of the pitch to great effect against Eddie Howe’s side.

Gary Neville on punditry was completely blown away by his performance, saying he has actually beem a fan of his all season.

Given how difficult it is to get a compliment from the former Manchester United man about Chelsea right now, it is high praise at this stage.
