Adele ‘fails to sell out Munich concerts’ as fans fear more last minute cancellations after singer postponed Las Vegas residency due to sickness

Adele has reportedly failed to sell out her comeback European concerts after she postponed the next leg of her Las Vegas residency due to sickness.

The singer, 35, will play 10 dates in Munich between August 2 and August 24 – her first shows since 2015.

But despite her immense popularity, The Sun reports that there are still thousands of tickets for the 80,000 capacity gigs available on Ticketmaster.

It is said that fans are worried about splashing out on tickets in case Adele is forced to cancel or reschedule once again.

An industry source told the publication: ‘There is some fan reticence about buying the tickets, because people are worried about whether Adele will be well enough to perform them all.

‘People follow her extremely closely — and Adele has been silent for a couple of weeks since announcing she was ill and taking a break. So her followers are worried about her and when she will be back.

‘But Adele has access to the very best treatment for whatever she needs in California, and a strong team around her.’

Days after revealing she’d been placed on vocal rest last month, Adele shared the sad news that all 10 of her March shows in Las Vegas would be pushed back to a later date after being ordered to rest on ‘doctors orders.’

She is due to wrap up her residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in June, and is thought to be earning around £1.5 million per show.

Many fans have been left frustrated that they can’t make the rescheduled dates as they have already spent money on plane tickets and hotels for when they thought it would be.

Fans won’t be able to get a refund as she hasn’t cancelled the shows – just rescheduled them.

Following her announcement, Adele has been radio silent, making many of her fans fearful that they will miss out on more dates.

Taking to her Instagram comments, one wrote: ‘Any updates soon? We need to plan and it’s impossible to do if we don’t have new dates or a full cancellation. Even if no exact date yet, maybe the promoters and ticketmaster can provide us with the options for a refund or the reschedule? But Leaving us in limbo is unfair. Thank you.’

Another echoed: ‘Hey , hope you are feeling better. But how about some goodwill from you and Ticketmaster? People are out thousands of dollars and radio silence!’

While a third wrote: ‘Postponing is a legal loophole so you don’t have to refund tickets. Do the right thing and just cancel the shows so people can get their money back! I am coming from England, will still enjoy the weekend but no way will I return again for a rescheduled concert!’

A fourth fumed: ‘Adele fks over her fans again out of sheer laziness and excuses. All those people who work hard and booked vacations to see her now getting screwed’.

While another penned: ‘The people saying “to the fans crying about their tickets blah blah blah” obviously didn’t spend thousands on a ticket lol you’d be crying if it was your money and your dream to see her live too’.

And someone else begged: ‘Don’t postpone Munich please. I spent a lot on accompanying and flight tickets’.

However many of her fans came to Adele’s defense, and urged her to focus on her health, while berated those who weren’t being empathetic.

One wrote: ‘After 80 shows you already deserve a rest’ while a second echoed: ‘That angel voice has to be recovered, take care of yourself’.

Another added: ‘Let her rest guys’ while a fourth commented: ‘Your health and well being is what matters most’.

And a fifth said: ‘Not some of these “fans” in the comments being selfish and prioritizing show dates etc instead of her well being and health’.

The news that there are still unsold seats for the Munich gigs comes after it was previously reported that tickets weren’t selling due to the sky-high prices.

After 260,000 fans scrambled in a queue for hours for the cheapest and best seats last month, they then reflected on the ‘vile’ cost of the tickets.

According to The Sun, the cheapest available ticket was £281 while the most expensive reaching over £1,000 to be stage-side.

A source told the publication: ‘If seats don’t sell, promoters might have to consider reducing prices. Hotel prices are through the roof. It’s a mess.’

Fans claimed the prices were ‘criminal’ and nearly impossible for ‘regular people to see artists live’.

One wrote: ‘Adele in August! Adele ticket prices must be a joke…300 euros for a seat at the way back????’ with another adding: ‘The Adele ticket prices are criminal i cant believe people are paying this much for them.’

A third wrote: ‘The Adele ticket prices are VILE’ while a fourth added: ‘I was thinking i could go see Adele but the prices are too crazy. Like I’d rather go on vacation with that money just not worth it to me.’

The popular singer-songwriter already added four extra dates due to the high demand for her shows in August – making 10 in total.

The shows are the first European dates she has done since 2016, with many urging the singer to embark on a world tour.

Adele last took to her Instagram at the end of February to announce she was pausing her Last Vegas residency and list the dates that would be postponed.

She wrote: ‘Sadly I have to take a beat and pause my Vegas residency. I was sick at the end of the last leg and all the way through my break.

‘I hadn’t quite gotten the chance to get back to full health before shows resumed and now I’m sick again, and unfortunately it’s taken a toll on my voice.

‘And so on Doctors orders I have no choice but to rest thoroughly. The remaining five weekends of this leg are being postponed to a later date. We are already working out the details and you will be sent the information ASAP.’

Fans were upset by the news, with many noting that this is far from the first time Adele has canceled performances – with one saying that it is now ‘becoming a norm’ for the singer, while urging her to ‘do better’.

‘Adele this has become a norm,’ they seethed. ‘Not finishing your shows. Do better. If you’re don’t like doing plenty shows, then stop doing them.’

And another tweeted: ‘I want to say I’m shocked but I’m not, just disappointed. I don’t want crocodile tear apologizes anymore.’

Someone else wrote: ‘Well, this is not fair. We have tickets, rooms, airlines, everything paid […] So not right Adele, you should’ve did this two months ago [instead] of people buying everything to Vegas.’

Whilst one person said: ‘She did this last year. She shouldn’t commit to dates if she can’t handle that number of shows.’

And someone else penned: ‘You should not have booked so many shows. Who is paying for flights and hotels that are already booked.’

Ahead of the announcement, Adele revealed she was taking several days of vocal rest after suffering a scare during her Las Vegas residency.

Stressed and emotional Adele complained of suffering voice issues, which made her sound like the cartoon villain ‘Ursula’ from The Little Mermaid.

The Londoner apologized to the audience at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace admitting she had concerns about hitting notes over a chest issue.

Adele, who underwent surgery for polyps in her throat in 2011, made it clear to the packed house of those concerned about her performance at the start of her show.

The star admitted: ‘In the middle of last night – I’m sure you can hear it in my talking voice and my singing voice a little bit. Your girl was tired. I didn’t sleep very well…

‘And Ursula from the ocean has come from my chest tonight. I can’t hit my headnotes properly. I didn’t sleep very well and my chest is on fire.. I can tell I’m going to have a coffee in like 10 days, but I’m still here.’

She added of her delight at the audience’s ‘energy’ being so positive it aided her mood.

But then she declared: ‘Straight after this show I am going on voice rest. Can you imagine how hard now me not talking for three days is? So I’m going to be in bed coughing my guts up on complete voice rest…

‘And not only is my partner an absolute chatterbox, so is my son. So I am going to have to lock myself in a cupboard or something like that.’

Adele lasted for a 100 minutes in her song, often sipping honey and hot water in between tunes.

Welling up on stage, Adele seemed to feel a little better, but acknowledged her voice issues as she ended the sold out show: ‘My voice came back about four songs ago…

‘You’ve been amazing. The show. Thank you, thank love, magical, magical, all putting it together from the moment out. I’m so glad you had a good time. I look crazy, I feel crazy… I’m going to go on voice rest.’

Adele still has 20 Vegas shows left before heading off to Munich for summer stadia gigs. Her last world tour Adele Live saw her cancel her last two shows at Wembley Stadium in 2017 over vocal worries.

She underwent vocal cord surgery in October 2011 to alleviate recurrent hemorrhaging caused by a benign polyp.

The Grammy winner began her Vegas residency in November 2022, after the shows were postponed by nearly a year.

Just hours before she was due to kick off her residency in January of that year, Adele revealed that the shows had been delayed, sparking fan uproar.

Adele’s initial video revealing that the show would not proceed led to pandemonium for fans who had already traveled to Vegas for the initial shows just before the last-minute announcement.

She wept as she explained to fans that she had ‘tried everything’ to get her show up and running but Covid had ‘destroyed’ everything.

She said in a video shared to her social media channels: ‘I’m so sorry, but my show ain’t ready.

‘We’ve tried absolutely everything we can to put it together in time and for it to be good enough for you, but we’ve been absolutely destroyed by delivery delays and Covid.

‘Half my crew and team are [ill] with Covid and still are, and it’s been impossible.’

Although she claimed in her tearful video that many of the people on her team had contracted Covid-19, subsequent reporting indicated that the hitmaker wasn’t happy with the stage show.

Several sources claimed that the British star had issues with the set design, and they singled out an on-stage pool that she was set to sing over during one of the numbers.

‘When she saw the finished design, she refused to take part,’ an insider told The Sun. ‘Adele described the pool as a ”baggy old pond” and refused, point blank, to stand in the middle of it.

‘The intention was to fill it with water on the set as she was lifted up on a crane-type mechanism, creating the illusion she was floating on water.’

Adele went onto admit that staging issues forced her to postpone the residency in an interview with Elle in August of that year.

‘There was just no soul in it,’ she said. ‘The stage setup wasn’t right. It was very disconnected from me and my band, and it lacked intimacy. And maybe I tried too hard to give it those things in such a controlled environment.’

Although she was initially ’embarrassed’ after the failure, she eventually found a way to be ‘proud’ of herself for standing up for the best possible show.

‘The first couple of months was really, really hard,’ she said. ‘I was embarrassed. But it actually made my confidence in myself grow, because it was a very brave thing to do. And I don’t think many people would have done what I did. I’m very proud of myself for standing by my artistic needs.’
