Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner are ‘still amicable’ after the Game Of Thrones actress asked to ‘reactivate’ their divorce proceedings.

A representative for the pop singer spoke with TMZ after news the actress had asked a judge to end the marriage and rule on who gets custody of their daughters via a court-ordered settlement after they failed to come to an agreement on their own.

‘The filing was a legal formality, and the couple continues to negotiate an amicable resolution,’ Jonas’ rep told the outlet.

Jonas, 34, filed for divorce from the Game of Thrones star, 28, in September 2023 and their battle over custody of daughters Willa, three, and Delphine, 17 months, made headlines worldwide.

But after the two were unable to come to an agreement, Sophie has now asked for a judge to step in.

The pair went to mediation partly in order to keep their marital issues private, but that will change now, with their filings — which outline their disputes — set to become public.

Joe and Sophie had major disagreements on where the children would live full-time.

While the actress wanted to take them to her native UK, Joe wanted to keep them in the United States.

The pair had a prenup, so property is most likely not a point of contention, but it appears they are unable to come to agreement on custody.

At one point things got so bad that Sophie filed a child abduction claim against Joe, though she asked the judge to dismiss it in January.

At the time, she claimed her musician ex was violating international law by refusing to let the children travel to be with her.

Back in October, Joe and Sophie set up a temporary custody arrangement after the Game Of Thrones actress sued him over his efforts to prevent her from taking their children out of the US on an allegedly pre-planned trip to the UK.

DailyMail.com previously obtained court documents revealing that the custody arrangement grants each parent two weeks at a time with their daughters until January 2024 and allow the girls to travel back and forth between the US and UK.

They can also travel to anywhere in the US and the UK, meaning that Turner can bring the girls to England, which she claims will be their ‘forever home.’

While Jonas got to take the girls on tour with his band The Jonas Brothers, Turner was able to spend Christmas with them in the UK with her family.

The agreement was reached after four days of intense mediation in New York, where the girls were staying with Turner in early October.

The resolution of custody of the children was expected to clear the way toward finalizing the couple’s divorce.

The court filing from Turner’s lawyer Stephen Cullen called the mediation ‘ongoing and productive’ and that the custody sharing comes ‘in anticipation of an amicable resolution of all issues.’

Jonas filed for divorce in Miami on September 1, with sources close to him claiming that Turner had been out partying too much, leaving him alone to look after their daughters.

Turner most recently had the children staying with her through January 7, but Jonas was spotted in London in December just days before Christmas, sparking speculation that he may have had a chance to celebrate the holiday with the girls, either with Turner or separately.

The two stars have kept a relatively low profile since their temporary custody arrangement was arrived at late last year.
