Reece James and Ben Chilwell both react after Chelsea’s thrilling Premier League win over Manchester United

Chelsea fans were put through it on Thursday night during a chaotic game at home to Manchester United that will live long in the memory.

The Blues ended up on the right end of a 4-3 scoreline this evening in the Premier League match at Stamford Bridge.

Despite flying into a two-goal advantage inside 20 minutes, Mauricio Pochettino’s side trailed 3-2 going into the closing stages of the contest. However, hat-trick hero Cole Palmer popped up with two very late stoppage time goals to turn the game again and earn Chelsea a valuable three points.

Free-scoring Chelsea bail defence out

Thankfully, Chelsea have an individual like Palmer providing the magic in this Chelsea attack right now.

Pochettino’s side certainly don’t have an issue scoring goals at present. However, as we reflect on tonight’s amazing win, it’s worth flagging the big question marks around the defence remain.

Chelsea conceded two goals in each of their previous five consecutive games before facing Man United, so it’s no real surprise to see them torn apart at times once again.

The Blues are firmly still in the race for the European positions, but the manager’s quickly got to address the backline and fix it. Our gut feeling is that the partnership of Benoit Badiashile and Axel Disasi in the centre of defence isn’t working.

Reece James and Ben Chilwell react

Senior Chelsea stars Reece James and Ben Chilwell, both missing tonight through injury, celebrated the achievements of their teammates with fantastici messages on social media.

First of all, Blues club captain James uploaded a post. He wrote on his Instagram story: “It ain’t over till it’s over.”

On top of that, Chelsea vice-captain Chilwell joined in with the post-match celebrations. He wrote via his Instagram story: “What a game. Incredible.”
