Miramax Television is set to refresh the iconic Halloween franchise with what’s being described as a “creative reset” for their new TV series.
Marc Helwig, the Head of Worldwide Television at Miramax, shared with Deadline that the project, in collaboration with Trancas, is moving swiftly and is a top priority for the company. The goal is to spearhead a new cinematic universe that spans both movies and television. “We’ve been in talks with numerous incredibly talented individuals recently, and we’re close to solidifying our plans,” he mentioned. The team hopes to finalize the creative team shortly.
Helwig also highlighted that the series would explore new territory, diverging from the narrative of the recent “Halloween Ends” trilogy. Instead, it will draw inspiration from the original 1978 John Carpenter classic and its characters, possibly bringing lesser-known characters into the spotlight. “We’re aiming for a complete creative overhaul, taking cues from the original movie rather than extending any of the newer adaptations,” he explained.
