Moment machete attacker rains down knife blows on victim at Edgware Road underground station

A machete attacker has been filmed raining down knife blows on a victim at a London underground station.

Edgware Road tube station in Westminster was closed after police and London Ambulance Service were called to reports of a serious assault just before 5pm on November 19.

Ambulance crews and an incident response officer attended the scene to find a man had been stabbed.

He has since been taking to hospital where his injuries were assessed as non-life threatening.

Two teenaged boys, aged 16 and 17, along with a 20-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. They remain in police custody.

The attacker, dressed in grey sweatpants, a black hoodie and wearing a balaclava, can be seen with the enormous machete at the entrance to the station.

As an eyewitness films the vicious stabbing, the attacker can be seen making several attempts to swipe at someone laying on the ground.

After the attacker finally runs away, the camera moves in closer to reveal a man injured holding his side.

In the background, a staff member for Transport for London can be seen walking towards the injured victim.

Detective Chief Inspector Steve May said: ‘Enquiries into this incident are ongoing and passengers will see an increased police presence in the area as a result.

‘The station will also remain closed. I urge any witnesses or anyone with information to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 513 of 19 November.

‘Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously by calling 0800 555 111.’
