“She’s Beyond the Stars! Anne Hathaway Dazzles in a Jedi-Inspired Gown at the Met Gala on Star Wars Day”

While the Met Gala is one of the biggest fashion events of the year, Anne Hathaway appeared to be making a nod to another (fictional) universe on Monday.

The 32-year-old attended the annual ball in New York wearing a metallic hooded gown by Ralph Lauren, which looked to have been inspired by Star Wars day as it mirrored the uniform of the Jedi knights.

Anne arrived to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in the shimmering gold dress, which clung to her slender frame, as she kept her cowl affixed atop her head.

Completing the Interstellar actress’ attire was a matching gold clutch and large gold earrings as she walked the red carpet.

Star Wars day falls on May the fourth each year (a play on ‘May the Force be with you’) and often sees fans of all kinds (including celebrities) pay tribute to the sci-fi fantasy films with often garish costumes.

Later Anne was spotted en route to to an after party at the Standard Hotel with husband Adam Shulman.

She ditched her Jedi robe for an equally intriguing item: a pair of enormous silky white MC Hammer Parachute pyjama pants.

The Met Gala event, which is chaired by the Vogue editor-in-chief, is an annual fundraising gala for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute.

As this year’s theme is China: Through The Looking Glass, with outfits expected to reflect an East Asian influence.

Previous themes have included punk, superheroes and Jacqueline Kennedy.

Many celebrities have been busy sharing behind-the-scenes pictures of their preparations, but there is a social media ban at the event that has been circulated to all attendees, according to reports.

Big night: The event, which is chaired by the Vogue editor-in-chief, is an annual fundraising gala for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute

Guests will receive notice upon arrival that ‘the use of phones for photography and social media will not be permitted’ throughout the event, a controversial ban which has apparently come at the request of the evening’s host, Anna Wintour.

The new rule may also be partially attributed to Ms. Wintour’s own distaste for posting personal photos on social media.

In an interview last year, the Vogue boss said: ‘I’ve never taken a selfie and I don’t plan to start now.’

She didn’t stick to the plan: As this year’s theme is China: Through The Looking Glass, with outfits expected to reflect an East Asian influence

No problem for her! Anne, famously social media resistant, will have no problem adhering to the zero selfie tolerance rule at this year’s event

The show: Designs from Yves Saint Laurent, left, Lawrence Xu, center, and John Galliano, right, on display at the Metropolitan Museum’s Costume Institute exhibition China: Through the Looking Glass

The exhibit, called Chinese Whispers: Tales of the East in Art, Film and Fashion, will run at the Metropolitan Museum Of Art, Costume Institute through August 15.

It explores the way Chinese art and aesthetics have been interpreted by the West over the years.

The show boasts a massive 30,000 square feet of gallery space filled with rich ensembles: Chinese costumes, historic garments and decorative arts, displayed beside the work of dozens of Western designers who were inspired by China, including names like John Galliano, Tom Ford, Ralph Lauren, Cristobal Balenciaga, Jean Paul Gaultier and many more.

The show also features work by Chinese or Chinese-American designers – Jason Wu, for example, who designed both of Michelle Obama’s inaugural gowns – working either in China or elsewhere around the globe.

The exhibit, a joint endeavor of the Costume Institute and the Met’s Asian Art department, is one of the most ambitious in scope the museum has undertaken, director Thomas Campbell said Monday at a preview.

And it is fully three times the size of the usual spring Costume Institute show, noted Andrew Bolton, its curator, comprising not just the institute’s galleries but the entire Asian Art department.

More comfy? Later Anne was spotted en route to to an after party at the Standard Hotel with husband Adam Shulman.

Cant touch this: She ditched her Jedi robe for an equally intriguing item: a pair of enormous silky white MC Hammer Parachute pyjama pants.

Handy: Presumably Anne jumped straight into bed at the end of the night
