Staff at BLACKPINK’s concert at MetLife Stadium (New Jersey, USA) revealed a touching detail from the girls on the second day of performing here.
BLACKPINK has just established a new achievement, being the first female group to “sold out” tickets for 2 consecutive nights at MetLife Stadium. Previously, Beyoncé and Taylor Swift were two female artists who could do this. In early July this year, TWICE also entered MetLife Stadium with a “sold out” concert.
BLACKPINK and BLINK blew out the candles late to celebrate their 7th birthday at MetLife Stadium.
It is estimated that there were about 98K spectators filling 2 days of BLACKPINK’s concert. The girls have brought a completely new setlist . In particular, this is also the first time Jisoo performed the song All Eyes On Me . This “upside down” scene caused the “sea of pink” at MetLife to explode.
A giant sea of pink was created by the audience at MetLife Stadium
In addition to their achievements, what made BLACKPINK’s concert here bring a wide media effect was the moment the girls performed energetically in heavy rain when the concert was half way through.
Despite the pouring rain, BLACKPINK still performed “extremely well”, constantly smiling brightly and interacting with the audience.
Many spectators present at the stadium at that time revealed that the staff had asked BLACKPINK to temporarily stop performing to ensure safety. However, the girls still continued performing because they did not want the audience to wait in the rain.
BLACKPINK performed “Playing with Fire” in the pouring rain.
On Twitter, BLINKs around the world could not hide their emotions and complimented the girls:
“I am happy and proud that I have chosen the right person to admire in this life.”
“So wonderful. They could have paused or ended early because of heavy rain, but BLACKPINK overcame everything and gave us a satisfying encore concert.”
“Performing with sweat in the rain like that can make you sick, I’ve been in that situation too. They are truly queens, so amazing.”
“I love BLACKPINK so much, I hope the girls won’t get sick and everyone will take good care of themselves.”
With 50/64 shows within the Born Pink world tour, BLACKPINK’s revenue is 243 million USD. The group is currently the female group with the highest tour revenue in K-Pop history. It is predicted that when this tour is completed, BLACKPINK can easily become the K-Pop artist with the highest tour revenue in history, surpassing BTS – the name holding the throne with 246 million USD (more than 5,853 million USD) for a total of 62 shows.
