A Miami car enthusiast has found a unique place to store his rare Italian sports car.
The owner of a $1.5million Pagani Zonda R decided his beloved toy was much too valuable to be kept on the street or tucked away in a garage, opting to hang it from the ceiling of his condo instead.
Brazil-based design firm Artefacto recently installed the vehicle inside the 4,200-sq-ft condominium in the ritzy Miami suburb of Surfside for the owner who has asked to remain anonymous.
The sleek black automobile acts as a divider between the living room and master bedroom as well as the inspiration for the rest of the home’s decor.
The owner of the four-bedroom home at the Fendi Chateau Residence had to obtain a special permit from the city before hanging the Pagani.
The vehicle’s V-12 Mercedes-AMG engine was removed to make it light enough to mount, but it still weighs 800lbs.
Artefacto used a crane to lift the car up to the fifth-floor terrace and removed the condo’s windows and moldings to get it inside.
The condo is outfitted with simple silver and gray furnishings, all designed to complement the Pagani.
The anonymous owner has said the rare automobile – one of only 15 ever produced – deserves to be treated like artwork, according to Artefacto CEO Paulo Bacchi.
‘He said that people go to Art Basel and spend $5million on paintings to hang on their wall, so why not put his passion on his wall?’ Bacchi told the Miami Herald.
‘I told him: “Whatever makes you happy.”‘
Bacchi said he’s seen other luxury vehicles such as Porsches and Ferraris hung as wall decoration, but that the Pagani installation is unique in that it can be viewed from all angles.
The roof of the car faces the large living room and the undercarriage faces the bedroom.
The Fendi Chateau home is located just a few minutes down the road from another luxury condo, the Porsche Design Tower, known for giving residents the unique option of bring their vehicles right into their living space.
However, that building wouldn’t be keen on letting the Pagani on the premises.
‘As the name says, it’s a Porsche building,’ Bacchi said. ‘My client is all about Pagani.’
