Brilliant Nigerian man bags Electrical Engineering degree with 4.93/5.00, wins ₦350,000 as overall best student

A brilliant Nigerian man named Similoluwa Okuonwo has emerged as the overall best graduating student of Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria after he bagged his bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a 4.93 grade point.

He was also awarded a cash prize worth 350,000 naira for his outstanding performance at the university.

Similoluwa Okunowo obtained his bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering with first-class honors of 4.93 over a possible 5.00 cumulative grade point at Obafemi Awolowo University.

He shared his achievement on Twitter stating that he graduated with the highest grade point in the entire university. In recognition of his outstanding performance, Similoluwa was awarded a sum of 350,000 naira with different notable awards as the overall best-graduating student.

Yesterday, I was conferred with a http://B.Sc in Electronic and Electrical Engineering (First Class Honours) during the 47th OAU convocation. I also emerged as the overall best-graduating student with the highest CGPA in OAU (4.93/5.0),” he wrote.

Similoluwa stated that his achievements made him reflect on his academic journey noting that he spent seven years in a bid to earn the degree. He said he realized that every mistake, failure, setback, and rejection led him to achieve success

He added that he is grateful for the opportunity to go again with renewed hope and optimism. He expressed his gratitude to the Obafemi Awolowo University community saying that he is honored and humbled by this recognition.

He also thanked his family for their unwavering love and support stating that he would not have earned the achievements without them.

Similoluwa mentioned that his goal is to advance humanity using technology and create solutions that sustainably address real-world challenges with his knowledge and skills.
