‘One to watch’… 15-year-old Chelsea prospect really impressed for the U18’s this week

Chelsea youngster Rio Ngumoha made quite the impact on his debut for the U18 side earlier this week.

The 15-year-old came off the bench with a few minutes to go, and changed the game as he went on to score one of their added time goals in the 3-2 win over Southampton.

The academy at Cobham has made a name for itself as one that has provided a number of top talents over recent years, with some of those currently operating in the first team.

Reece James, Conor Gallagher and Armando Broja are all products of the process at the club, with the former now seeing himself as first team captain.

The current side have plenty of players who have already caught the eye of those involved in the senior squad.

A number of these have become regulars in training this season under Mauricio Pochettino too, off the back of an insane number of injuries that they have suffered.

Ngumoha impresses for Chelsea U18s

The likes of Leo Castledine and Josh Acheampong have been spotted with the squad, with it being a priceless opportunity to impress the boss.

One of those who may not be to far away from this privilege is Ngumoha, with him already stepping up to feature for the U18 side despite being three years junior.

His impact was instant off the bench, finding the net in the 91st minute before the young Blues scored a dramatic winner.

His performance impressed TheSecretScout, who is tipping the teenager for big things.

He said: “15-year-old Chelsea and England U16 Rio Ngumoha came on for his u18 debut today…He came on in the 86th minute and changed the game. As we said…one to watch”

It will be interesting to see now if Ngumoha is given more chances to impress at this level, as he looks set for a big career in the game.

PETER HITCHENS: Our deadbeat leaders are marching us towards chaos. Why on earth do we trust them on war in Ukraine?

Do you have confidence in our leaders on tax, health, policing, farming, immigration, sleaze, housing, education or transport? Every single one a bungle, run by deadbeats where they generally achieve the opposite of what they promise. So why trust them on war in Ukraine? Yet here we go again, down the road to chaos. The weaker we get, the louder we shout. How the rest of the world must snigger at our great power posturing in Ukraine last week. They will have laughed especially at how pathetically and quickly we aped the Americans as they went directly into war with Moscow, authorising US Service personnel to guide ATACMS weapons to targets in Russia. As soon as Washington announced this dubious plan, London did the same with our Storm Shadow rockets. These cannot be launched without the direct involvement of British military know-how and American guidance systems.

New polling has suggested Americans are overwhelmingly opposed to president-elect Donald Trump’s plan to pardon January 6 defendants. During his campaign, he had pledged to ‘absolutely’ pardon those involved in the January 6 Capitol storming, frequently referring to them as ‘patriots’ and ‘hostages’. When Trump is sworn in as the 47th President of the United States, he will have the authority to wipe those cases of the 1,488 people charged in relation to Jan 6.
