Zoe Saldaña Recalls Gruesome Filming Conditions For ‘Lioness’ Under Machine-Like Director Taylor Sheridan, Claimed Actors “have to keep up”

Throughout her career, she has starred in multiple movies and shows and has portrayed a range of characters, with one of the most recent being the role of a CIA officer in Taylor Sheridan’s spy thriller TV series Special Ops: Lioness.

During an interview with BBC Radio 1, Saldaña opened up about working with the filmmaker, as she shared that he is very straightforward and does not hold back in expressing his thoughts.

Taylor Sheridan’s TV series starring Zoe Saldaña, Special Ops: Lioness, follows a CIA operative, Joe, navigating the complexities of personal and professional life as the Lioness Program recruits Laysla De Oliveira’s Cruz Manuelos to work alongside her.

In a recent interview with BBC Radio 1, the lead star of the show shared that she had a great experience working with the filmmaker. The Terminal actress also highlighted the intense and straightforward nature of the Yellowstone director, saying,

“It’s a great feeling. You really have to keep up. He’s a machine. He says everything that’s on his mind, very honest. But the same way he gives it he can also take it.”

The Colombiana star also recalled a suggestion she received before collaborating with Sheridan on Lioness. She shared that someone who has worked with the filmmaker told her to “know what you’re there for, know what you’re fighting for,” as the Tulsa King director appreciates constructive ideas and discussions that contribute to the creative process.

Taylor Sheridan Believed in Zoe Saldaña to Star in Lioness

Zoe Saldaña has shared that she was initially hesitant to accept Taylor Sheridan’s offer to star in the show. In her conversation with BBC Radio 1, she admitted to doubting herself. However, despite her uncertainties, the filmmaker had faith in the Guardians of the Galaxy star.

“I think that what I was having a hard time doing was believing in myself,” she said before adding, “I feel like in 2020 Taylor believed more in me than I believed in myself.” She shared that she was flattered to learn that he wanted to base the lead character on her.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Saldaña shared that a year later, she contacted him to learn about the show’s progress. However, he still had not cast the role and was waiting for her to accept the offer. It was then she decided to join the series.
