Brilliant Nigerian woman bags PhD in Mathematics, wins overall best-graduating thesis award

A brilliant Nigerian woman named Aminat Ige has bagged a doctorate in Mathematics and was awarded the overall best-graduating thesis at the University of Lagos in Nigeria.

Aminat is a Mathematics lecturer at Lagos State University (LASU) who emerged as the winner of the Overall Best PhD Thesis award of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) for the 2022/2023 academic session.

She obtained her doctorate of mathematics with her thesis titled: “O-Metric Spaces: A Novel Unification and Generalisation of Metric-Type Spaces With Applications In Fixed Point Theory.”

Sharing her achievement on Facebook, Aminat stated that she owes her success to her supervisors highlighting that one of them was once a recipient of the same award. She added their support was invaluable.

”I owe this success to my supervisors. May the Almighty reward them here on earth before the ultimate reward. Golden Professor Johnson Olaleru and Dr Hallowed Olaoluwa who was once a recipient of the same award, my appreciation is forever. Your support is invaluable,” she said.

Aminat also attributed her success to her late father stating that her success is the result of the foundation he laid for her.

In a similar story, a brilliant Nigerian man named Tijjani Hassan El-badawy has bagged a doctorate in Petroleum Engineering at the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and was awarded the best postgraduate student of the university.

Tijjani was awarded the best postgraduate student of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (University of Technology Malaysia) after he bagged his PhD in Petroleum Engineering. Read more about Tijani HERE.
