Max Verstappen enjoyed a secret party as he crowned his latest F1 world title success.

Verstappen, 25, ensured back-to-back titles with four races remaining following his victory at the Japanese Grand Prix last weekend. The F1 season resumes in Austin on October 21 but the Dutchman made the most of a rare free weekend to celebrate the victory.

His close friend Louis van Baar uploaded a clip on Instagram from inside the secret party as Verstappen was presented with a huge cake in the shape of a trophy, with a Dutch flag on the front.

The F1 champion was also given a huge tray of shots and sparklers as his friends came together to celebrate, including fellow driver Lando Norris.

Van Baar is a close friend of Verstappen and also works alongside world-renowned DJ Martin Garrix as his photographer.

Verstappen won his second title in different circumstances to last season when he pipped Lewis Hamilton in the season finale in Abu Dhabi.

Speaking recently, he said: “You know, last year, all the way until the last race is probably the worst kind of feeling, going into that last race.

“But also because at the time, I don’t think we were the quickest anymore, so that also doesn’t help. And this year, it’s just been very, very different in emotions from the start, all the way through the year.”

He also suggested he would consider his future when his Red Bull deal comes to an end in 2028.

“I don’t see myself driving until I’m 40 because I want to also do other stuff,” Verstappen said. “I’m having a lot of fun with what I’m doing right now and I’m still in F1 for a couple more years… I’m signed until ’28.

“After that, it also depends how everything is going but I will probably try to do a few different kinds of racing because it’s important also to try different things.”
