A young Nigerian man named Jamiu Afolayan has won a scholarship to study for his master’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering at Asheshi University in Ghana.
Jamiu obtained his bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at the University of Ilorin, Nigeria. He graduated from the university with a second-class upper grade.
He shared his achievement of winning a scholarship on his Linkein stating that it is the beginning of a new chapterfor him. He won the Ashesi-ETH scholarship MSc/MAS Mechatronics Engineering.
The scholarship is a collaboration between Ashesi University and ETH Zürich by TetraPark. Jamiu will be studying for his Masters of Science degree in Mechatronics Engineering at Asheshi University.
Jamiu said the journey to attain the milestone was one of resilience and unwavering determination. He mentioned that he was left with a choice between entering the workforce or pursuing further education after graduation which was not an easy decision.
He stated that his decision meant stepping out of his comfort zone, navigating setbacks, and seeking opportunities beyond limitations. Jamiu also mentioned that he faced setbacks when he missed two Master/PhD opportunities while planning to move forward.
He said the scholarship has given him a chance to delve into automation, production, economics, and management and pillars crucial for driving industrial growth that resonates with his vision for fostering technological advancement and sustainable growth.
Jamiu expressed his gratitude to Tetra Pak for the opportunity and to his professors who have been part of the narrative and supported him adding that their belief in him has been his driving force.
Jamiu said his enrollment at Asheshi University marks the promise, of transformative learning and collaboration with brilliant minds. He added that he is looking forward to embracing the future with fervor and making the most of the opportunity.
