Promotion for the new Marvel Collector Corps box shows that Captain America: Brave New World is set to be the theme for the upcoming merchandise box. As such, the marketing notable features Sam’s new Captain America: Brave New World suit, which has some notable changes from his prior costume.

Why Captain America’s Suit Is Changing For Brave New World

While the official reason Sam Wilson changes his suit in Captain America: Brave New World isn’t yet known, superheroes changing their costumes isn’t exactly new ground for the MCU, as Marvel Studios tend to relatively frequently give their heroes and villains fresh new looks. It is also key to remember that by the time the audience gets to see Sam again, it will have been nearly five years since the events of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, which supports the idea of why he would have a new suit.

Captain America: Brave New World is reportedly undergoing “extensive reshoots,” hence its delay from May 2024 to February 2025.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier itself did also go ahead and have Sam debut in his comic costume, rather than save it for Captain America: Brave New World. The costume upgrade may also be related to the fact that there was some criticism against Sam’s initial MCU costume, with the cowl specifically being one of those elements. Sam getting a new suit could also be a way for the MCU to try and have him honor Steve, as the new outfit does look closer to the first Captain America’s own conventional ensemble.
