Drama: As the cameras rolled, the Hollywood stars got into character
The film, directed by Julian Schnabel, is in early production and character details are yet to be revealed.
Gal and Jason were pictured filming the lead up to the tense shoot out last week with fake bullets flying as they ran up to the top of the rooftop for the showdown.
Johnny Depp purchased the film rights of the Nick Tosches novel in 2008 but has opted out of featuring in the movie, with Oscar taking his place instead.
The book interweaves two different stories, one storyline is set in the 14th century in Italy and Sicily and featuring Dante Alighieri, while the other is set in the autumn of 2001 and featuring a fictionalised version of Nick Tosches as the protagonist.
The historical and modern stories alternate.
Dante tries to finish writing his magnum opus and goes on a journey for mystical knowledge in Sicily.
Meanwhile, Dante expert Nick is called in by black market traders to attest to the authenticity of a manuscript of The Divine Comedy said to be written by Dante himself.

As well as Jason’s role in the film, he is set to co-star with Dave Bautista in an upcoming comedy action movie, with the same director as Blue Beetle.
Angel Manuel Soto is leading the production for The Wrecking Crew, with deals for the two actors agreed prior to the acting union strikes and the script written before the writers’ strikes.
The writer and actors’ strikes began in June and July respectively.
Plot details about the new comedy are being kept quiet, but it is expected to be a ‘buddy action comedy’.
This comes almost two years after Bautista tweeted the pair should star in a ‘buddy cop’ movie together.
The Guardians Of The Galaxy star said: ‘Just going to throw this out into the atmosphere and see what happens. Here we go…
‘Me and Momoa in a Lethal Weapon type buddy cop movie directed by David Leitch. Ok! There it is. Now we wait.’
The two met while working together on sci-fi action series See, and also starred alongside one another in Dune in 2021.
Momoa later shared his co-star’s sentiment, speaking on The Late Late Show With James Corden.
He said: ‘We love each other, you know, obviously we met on See, we’re on Dune together, so I said “absolutely.”
‘It sells itself. Dave loves wearing speedos. I love wearing board shorts. Both of us with our shirts off. Buddy cop film. He’ll be grumpy, I’ll be charming. Boom. It sells itself.’
