Real Madrid’s top priority ahead of the summer transfer is finally completing the signing of Kylian Mbappe, who has been on their transfer radar for nearly half-a-decade at this point.
The Frenchman becomes a free agent in the summer, and is between Madrid and PSG for his future.
The Spanish capital outfit are confident that this is the transfer window where Mbappe finally joins them. Players such as Rodrygo have also openly spoken about the possibility of playing with him next season and beyond.
And on the last few months of his contract, Mbappe is free to negotiate with any team he wants over a pre-contract. However, no decision has been made by him yet.
In fact, according to reports from Mario Cortegana, Mbappe was leaning towards joining Madrid in the summer, but his decision has been delayed for now because influential members in his entourage are unconvinced by Los Blancos‘ offer.
If reports are to believed, Madrid are understandably not ready to pay Mbappe quite as much as he is earning at PSG, which is close to €72 million annually.
They will still make him the highest-paid player in Europe alongside a signing bonus worth over €100 million. The Frenchman is reportedly looking for €50 million in wages, to add to that.
The report also confirms that Madrid’s offer to Mbappe is lower than what they tabled to him last time, which is causing concern within his camp about the transfer.
Two years ago, when Mbappe was close to leaving PSG on a Bosman move, Madrid offered him €130 million in signing bonus and a salary of €26 million net per year. However, he turned down the offer and ended up renewing his contract with the French giants instead.
