Max Verstappen celebrates victory with P and Kelly Piquet

Red Bull driver Max Verstappen secured his third consecutive victory at the Japanese Grand Prix on Sunday, October 8, 2024.

The Dutchman started the race from pole position and led from start to finish, ahead of Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton.

Verstappen’s victory was his 13th of the season, extending his lead in the Drivers’ Championship to 116 points over Leclerc.

After the race, Verstappen was joined on the podium by his girlfriend, Kelly Piquet, and his pet dog, P.

Piquet is the daughter of three-time Formula One world champion Nelson Piquet.

The couple have been dating since late 2020 and regularly share loved-up snaps on social media.

P is a Jack Russell Terrier who Verstappen adopted in 2021.

The pooch has become a firm fixture in the Verstappen household and even has his own Instagram account.

In a post-race interview, Verstappen said he was “very happy” with his victory and that he was “enjoying” his racing.

He also thanked his team, Red Bull, for giving him a “great car”.

Verstappen’s victory in Japan was his second in a row and his third in the last four races.

The Dutchman is now the clear favorite to win the Drivers’ Championship this season.
