She’s looking at you: Anne Hathaway dared to go, well, a lot more bare than usual in the cover shoot for Harper’s Bazaar’s November issue devoted to all things daring

The photo-shoot certainly put the lie to that.

The Oscar-winner explained: ‘A lot of people have told me, “You’re not this and so can’t play that,” and I can’t tell you the amount of times I’ve been told I’m not 𝑠e𝑥y.

‘I just go, “I’m a lot of things. Just because I don’t wear my 𝑠e𝑥iness overtly doesn’t mean that I can’t become that girl for a role. That’s what I do; I become things. Use your imagination, buddy.” ‘

Anne considers her role as an astronaut in Interstellar, due out on November 5, as a daring one for her. ‘She’s very serious, very prickly,’ unlike her usual characters, the star said.

She ventured into space alongside Matthew McConaughey, who she called ‘the most daring man I know. He never judged himself along the way, and it’s all come together for him so wholly and deeply. He is totally himself.’

However, the actress revealed the physical stress of the shoot contributed to her decision to give up veganism.

The film shot in Iceland and the slender star spent several weeks wearing a 40-pound space suit. ‘I just didn’t feel good or healthy,’ she told the magazine, ‘not strong.’

So when Matthew suggested they should ‘try everything’ on the menu at a Reykjavík restaurant, she ordered a piece of fish ‘from a stream I could see from where I was sitting.’

She ‘just felt better’ the next day so now Anne isn’t so strict with herself when it comes to her diet.

However, she said she was daring when it came to meeting Adam Shulman, her husband of two years.

‘I have no problem making the first move when I see a guy I like,’ she announced. ‘I was in L.A. when I met him. I was told he had a girlfriend, and I backed off because I’m not that girl.

‘Then when I found out six weeks later that he didn’t have a girlfriend, I was like, “We should throw a party. We should invite Adam.”

‘From the very first second we knew it was a very powerful and exciting connection we had and it just gets better.’

Anne obviously enjoyed her ‘daring’ outfits for Harper’s shoot.

With her brunette bob sleekly smoothed to the side, she smoldered in a long, form-fitting black gown with an unusual asymmetric neckline and an off-centre zip undone from ankle to thigh.

The split revealed one leg in a cage-style, high-heeled shoe with straps going all the way to her knee and a zip up the front to match the dress.

A third showed the actress in a cute black top embellished with a ruby crystal bleeding heart with silver crystal arrows heading for it as she places her hand.

Harper’s Bazaar goes on sale this month.
