Priyanka Chopra talks about living her life with the constant pain of her father’s demise
In a recent interaction on an episode of Reading The Room podcast, Priyanka Chopra opened up about the grief of losing her father, which has still not left her. The actress revealed how after her father’s demise, she realised that this pain would never leave her side and be her constant companion.
Priyanka added that with time, this grief either manifests itself in huge manner in her life, or sometimes even a small picture of her dad has brought back those painful memories. In her words:
“After my dad passed away, I came to a slow but steady conclusion that that kind of pain would never go away. It’s your companion. So, if you are thinking of or waiting for the day when it starts hurting less, when it doesn’t affect you anymore or when you get over it… You are never getting over it; it becomes a companion. There will be days when it comes out in a biggish way and wants to stay over for dinner or maybe a week, and there will be days when you don’t even remember about it until you see a photo and you’re like… Any form of grief will have a duration in which it will become your companion and you have to let it.”
Priyanka once revealed how her equation with God changed after her father’s demise
Previously, in a candid interaction with Oprah Winfrey, Priyanka Chopra revealed the profound impact her father, Ashok Chopra’s passing away had in her life. The global icon expressed that she was extremely angry with God back then, and her dynamics with the supreme Almighty changed a bit. However, she expressed how later on, it was God himself who helped her find out a way out of grief. She said:
“I think around the death of my dad. I was very angry. I was very angry. My relationship with God changed a little bit. But then at the same time, I feel like God helped me find salvation and come out of it too. But at that time, it was tested.”
Priyanka revealed how her father never wanted her to be inside a kitchen
Despite painful memories about losing her father, Priyanka Chopra has often shared happy anecdotes about him, which have left a profound impact in her life. Earlier, during an interactive interview with Vogue, PeeCee was asked to prepare a few breakfast items which she usually ends up consuming. During the assigned task, the diva remembered how her father, Ashok Chopra strongly dissuaded her to enter into the kitchen, as he believed that the life of girls are far better and productive outside of it.

Earlier, while speaking at The Howard Stern Show, Priyanka Chopra walked down the memory lane and recalled a time, when at the age of 16, she returned to India after her higher education in the US. Recalling how her dad was paranoid about the new habits which she might have imbibed, Priyanka said:
“My dad was super paranoid because he sent to America a 12-year-old with braids and trying to be cool, so I got my hair blown out that was the only thing I had ever done, come back after all of these American hormones and the food. I come back a little bit more woman than my dad would have anticipated at 16.”
