Money will always be thrown Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s way because of their association with the Royal Family, US celebrity podcast host Perez Hilton says.

Meghan Markle’s podcast series has been described as “hilarious” by US celebrity blogger Perez Hilton. The Duchess of Sussex’s Archetypes series ran for one season and saw Meghan interview high profile guests including tennis ace Serena Williams, singer Mariah Carey and Crazy Rich Asians actor Constance Wu.

The podcast deal between Spotify and the Sussexes ended after the first run, with Meghan and Lemonada Media announcing in February they had teamed up for a new season.

Hilton told royal expert Kinsey Schofield on her YouTube series, Kinsey Schofield Unfiltered, that because of their link to the Royal Family both Meghan and Prince Harry will have money thrown at them by Hollywood, even if they get dropped by Spotify.

He said: “They don’t even have to try. They will work in Hollywood because Hollywood, like the rest of the world, is full of sheep. They will want to align themselves with the British Royal Family.

“Harry’s not a senior working royal anymore, but he’s still the son of the King and the brother or the future king. Money will always be thrown his way and his wife’s way. Even if they continue to be dropped by Spotify, or dropped by Netflix after their new projects fail to garner much viewership.”

Asked his opinion on Meghan’s skills as a podcast host, Hilton said: “I thought Archetypes was hilarious because she claims to be this champion of women and for the people yet every guest, it seemed like, if not every guest then the overwhelming majority, were celebrities.

“Why are you doing this thing about women and we’re only hearing voices of the rich and famous?”

Archetypes released its first episodes on Spotify in August 2022, with the Sussexes production company signing what was a multi-year deal with the streaming giant.

Guests also included Sex and the City author Candace Bushnell, actor Jameela Jamil and Canada’s First Lady, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau.

Meghan, Harry and Spotify agreed to part ways in June the following year after 12 episodes despite the show reaching number one on the company’s podcast charts in 47 countries.

The Duchess’s podcast even scooped a gong at the 48th Gracie Awards which celebrate “outstanding” programme making and women in news and entertainment.

In February, The Hollywood Reporter said Meghan was to bring Archetypes back, with the Duchess telling the same publication she was proud to announce she was joining the “brilliant” team at Lemonada to continue her love of podcasting.

She also said it felt fantastic to start 2024 being able to support of company founded by women which already had a number of “thought-provoking” podcasts.
