Praise from Michael Irvin
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is playing good football and still receiving praise from all directions.
He was a part of the Chiefs side that managed to secure a 21-14 win over the Miami Dolphins in Germany over the weekend and, even if it was the defence that led the team to that win, the quarterback is still being talked about glowingly.
Hall of Fame wideout Michael Irvin was very quick to praise Mahomes and he was also yearning for the days of watching the QB and Tyreek Hill playing together.
Michael Irvin misses the Hill-Mahomes linkup
Irvin was on FS1’s Undisputed and his comments will be very flattering for Mahomes and the Chiefs.
“Patrick Mahomes is basically God playing quarterback, I don’t care what you guys say,” said Irvin.
“He doesn’t have quite the talent he needs at wide receiver, but he always makes just enough plays to keep them in the game. He’s a phenomenal talent.”
Irvin also lamented the Chiefs‘ decision to break up the playmaking trio of Mahomes, Hill and Travis Kelce after trading the receiver to Miami before the 2022 season.
“That combo should have never been broken up, that was the greatest thing I’ve ever seen on a football field,” added Irvin.
Hill managed to achieve 331 catches for 4,638 yards for 46 touchdowns in just 58 career games playing with Mahomes and the Chiefs, and he was a huge part of them winning the Super Bowl they clinched against the San Francisco 49ers.
Patrick Mahomes had fun in Germany
After the end of the game in Germany, the focus was on Mahomes‘ interactions with those in the crowd in Frankfurt, and he met Antoine Griezmann.
The Atletico Madrid forward has a keen interest in American sports, although he has previously been most interested in the NBA rather than NFL.
