Lizzo dazzled in the early morning hours as she performed hits from her new album, Special, in New York Friday.
The Grammy winner, 34, donned a strappy royal blue jumpsuit with sequins, fringe, and a corseted belt with dangling chains for her performance on the Today show. Her long dark locks were styled in loose waves and her makeup included coordinated blue eye shadow.
In an interview with hosts Hoda Kotb, 57, and Savannah Guthrie, 50, prior to her highly anticipated performance, the Grrrls artist spoke about the ‘wild’ week she experienced ahead of dropping Special. ‘It feels like Christmas and my birthday or something,’ she said.
On Tuesday, her Amazon Prime series Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Grrrls received six Emmy nominations, including one for the multi-talented performer as executive producer.
Lizzo received high marks for her turn as host on the compeтιтion show focused on finding plus-size dancers to accompany the artist during performances.
‘The Emmys were shocking,’ she admitted, ‘I mean, we did Watch Out for the Big Grrrls just so I could have dancers.’

‘We didn’t think about trophies or accolades so to be acknowledged is just incredible. I already feel like a winner.’
Although she looked fresh as a daisy for her daytime TV performance, the anxious artist confessed she had been up looking for first reactions to her latest project.
‘I was up way later than I should have been, just on Twitter, looking at everybody’s favorite songs, Coldplay is like a standout, Special is a standout and To Be Loved, which I want to do for y’all today.’

Lizzo and her crew got the crowd dancing and singing at the Concert on the Today Plaza by opening up with her hit About Damn Time.
Post performance, she took a stroll with Hoda down the line to greet fans. She paused for a selfie with a young woman who happened to be celebrating her 14th birthday.
