PSG superstar Kylian Mbappé is an easy player for people to dislike. Real Madrid fans don’t like him because he declined their club, which almost never happens.
Fans of other clubs (or players) simply don’t like him because he’s a confident superstar who carries himself as such. Greatness attracts negative attitudes, just as it attracts rightful praise.
Mbappé’s ‘revenge’ on Messi
Mbappé is out to break records, and he’s already accomplished more than most players can ever dream of. As a teenager, he was the most exciting player of the French national team that dominated the 2018 World Cup.
He then nearly carried them to the crown in 2022 with a heroic Final performance amidst several disappointing performances from teammates.
In the end, Mbappé was bested by Lionel Messi’s magic and a more cohesive Argentina team. But Mbappé remains at the top of his game and the most important player for France, wearing the armband with pride.
On Saturday, he and France had a field day against Gibraltar. They did not hold back, putting up 14 goals on their opponent, with Mbappé chiming in for a hat trick, including two after the 70th minute.
Mbappé is the youngest player to score 300
Those goals now put Mbappé at 300 in total between his club and international careers at Monaco, PSG, and the French national team.
At the age of 24 years and 10 months, he is now the youngest player to ever reach 300, breaking Lionel Messi’s record set at 25 years and 4 months.
Many of the records set by Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo seem so grandiose that they are deemed impossible to break, yet here is Mbappé quietly shattering one of them by six months.
Mbappé is becoming more of a pure goal-scorer, transitioning to a more ruthless playing style, just as Ronaldo did with his mid-career move to Real Madrid.
Can he get even better like his idol Cristiano?
Though Mbappé has yet to move to Madrid, the rumors still remain. Even if he does not change clubs, Mbappé can still score a bevy of goals for PSG and even more for a talented-stacked French national team that can feed him.
Speaking of Cristiano, how long did it take the all-time leading scorer to reach 300? Mbappé’s idol hit that total when he was 27, as he spent many seasons as a pure winger for Portugal and Manchester United.
Neymar, by the way, was also 25 but fell well short due to injuries.
So Mbappé just has to keep going and getting stronger, as Cristiano did. The world is in his hands, with Messi’s impressive record already broken.
