Angelina Jolie divorce: Angelina Jolie says she felt ‘lost’ after her divorce from Brad Pitt

Oscar-winning actress Angelina Jolie said she felt “lost” and “hurt” after her divorce from ex-husband Brad Pitt.

Hollywood A-listers Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie tied the knot in 2014 after nearly a decade together. However, their marriage was short-lived, as Angelina filed for divorce just two years later. The public learned about an incident on an airplane involving Brad, Angelina, and their six children, during which Angelina reported to the police that Brad had grabbed and shaken her.The 44-year-old actress has seldom discussed the highly publicized separation, as legal disputes with Brad continue over their winery shares and the custody of their six children: Zahara (14), Shiloh (13), and Vivienne (11), as well as sons Maddox (18), Pax (15), and Knox (11).

The Salt star, in an interview with French magazine Madame Figaro, divulged details about her mental health following split from Brad, saying she didn’t recognise herself anymore.Terming the divorce a “complicated moment”, Jolie said she lost herself a bit after her relationship with the Bullet Train actor. Jolie said she felt “smaller, almost insignificant, even if it wasn’t necessarily obvious,” during their separation

“I felt a deep and genuine sadness, I was hurt,” Jolie added.Amid ongoing legal disputes with her ex-husband, the acclaimed actress describes her current state as a “period of transition,” akin to a homecoming and a return to herself. Uncertain about what the future holds, she reflects on the positive aspects of her life, expressing gratitude for the chance to “reconnect” with the good things. Poignantly, she acknowledges, “All these things settle in you and remind you of how lucky you are to be alive.”

In 2021, five years after initiating divorce proceedings, the Oscar-winning actress faced questions about the decision to end her marriage. Speaking to The Guardian, she emphasized the gravity of her choices, stating, “I’m not the kind of person who makes decisions like the decisions I had to make lightly. It took a lot for me to be in a position where I felt I had to separate from the father of my children,” hinting at long-standing issues within the relationship spanning “the last decade.”

“There’s a lot I can’t say,” she further added.
