As we know both Frieza and King Cold are members of the mysterious Frieza race. However, while Frieza is short, even shorter than Goku, King Cold is larger than Frieza and many other creatures. We saw this in the image when the father and son appeared, and it was also shown in the art book Dragon Ball Daizenshuu #04 – World Guide. There is a page here describing Frieza and those related to him, which shows that King Cold is at least twice Frieza’s normal height. So why is there this terrible height difference between two members of the same race, especially if they are father and son?

Some argue that this is simply due to age, members of the Frieza race are different from normal humans, they do not stop growing when they reach adulthood but continue until death. Since King Cold is Frieza’s father, it is understandable that he is older and taller. Let’s remember that the Frieza clan seems to live a long time, which gives them more time to develop their form.

This is shown by other members of Frieza’s race as Frieza’s brother Cooler is much taller than him and also shorter than King Cold, or Frieza’s son Kuriza is much smaller than him. This implies that in the future, Frieza could grow and become larger than King Cold. Because even though Frieza is considered old by human standards compared to his age, he is really just a teenager of the Frieza clan.

Besides, form can also play a role in this height difference. Throughout the series, Frieza transforms into many different forms, and these versions have significant height changes. Pay close attention, Frieza’s second form looks taller than his normal form and resembles a shorter version of King Cold.

If this is true, then we may not have seen King Cold’s true power yet, as he has only appeared in his base form so far. And if King Cold’s forms follow the same height trend as Frieza’s transformations, this means that if he upgrades his strength, his height will be much greater than he is now. Although we should also note that it is possible that the height difference between the forms is unstable, either way King Cold will still be a few feet taller than Frieza.

However, there are also opinions that King Cold’s height may simply be a random “error” of genetics. Even among normal people, there is a large variation in height within a family. Therefore, the fact that King Cold is big and Frieza is short is completely possible, even for a member of the Frieza clan.
