Erik Ten Hag wants to replace Amrabat and Mount as frustrated Man Utd boss eyes four January transfers

Manchester United are in the market to sign four players in the January transfer window, according to reports.

They have moved up to sixth in the table and are now just six points adrift of the top.

But concerns remain at Old Trafford after five defeats from their opening 13 league matches.

They are also in danger of being eliminated in the group stage of the Champions League following three losses in four games.

According to The Guardian, Ten Hag is now considering a number of acquisitions in the mid-season window.

He is eyeing a new defensive midfielder, right-sided centre-back, No8 and striker.

It is understood midfielders Sofyan Amrabat and Mason Mount could be replaced amid concerns over their first few months at the club.

Amrabat, 27, has struggled to consistently perform since arriving on loan from Fiorentina.

And Mount’s £60million transfer from Chelsea has suffered a slow start as he has endured performance and fitness issues.

The Englishman, 24, is yet to register a goal or assist for his new side.

And Man Utd have already been linked with several names as the January window looms.

One of those is Mount’s former Chelsea team-mate Timo Werner – who could be set for a shock return to England after a spell with RB Leipzig.

Nice and France centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo is another who has been mooted as a Man Utd target, although Tottenham and Liverpool are also monitoring the defender.

Benfica centre-half Antonio Silva and Monaco midfielder Youssouf Fofana are also reportedly being eyed up by Ten Hag.
