Hennessey Venom F5 Revolution Revealed As A Track-Focused 1,817-HP Hypercar

Hennessey has shed weight, enhanced agility, and added downforce.

Hennessey Performance has just revealed its latest take on the Venom F5 hypercar with a new, track-focused limited edition called the Revolution. Based on the existing architecture of the F5, the new arrival maintains the 6.6-liter twin-turbo V8 dubbed ‘Fury.’ That means you still get access to 1,817 horsepower, but with less weight, more downforce, and improved handling, the Venom F5 Revolution “offers the nimbleness of a fighter jet, yet with a power plant like a Saturn V rocket!” exclaims founder John Hennessey.

Exact performance figures have not yet been revealed, but Hennessey has said that the special edition weighs less than 3,000 pounds and is the lightest Venom F5 model to date. Excited? We sure are.

The obvious changes start with an enormous, adjustable, full-width carbon fiber rear wing fitted with end plates to prevent high-pressure air from spilling beneath the wing. These end plates also generate vortices that guide the air and improve stability. The wing adds over 800 pounds of downforce at 186 mph and more than 1,400 lbs of downforce at 249 mph.

To ensure optimal chassis balance, the front end boasts a much bigger carbon fiber splitter, while an extended rear diffuser contributes to lower pressure beneath the vehicle. Back at the front, dive planes ahead of the front wheels help improve turn-in. Finally, a roof-mounted central air scoop helps keep the engine cool.

The double-wishbone suspension now features more aggressive alignment settings and has adjustable dampers that owners can adjust trackside “with simple tools.” New forged alloy wheels increase the contact patch of each corner, while standard carbon-ceramic brakes with multi-piston calipers guarantee repetitive fade-free stopping. Completing the upgrades is a digital onboard telemetry system that can measure lap times, splits, G-forces, and more.

Chief engineer John ‘Heinrocket’ Heinricy has more than 1,000 laps of the Nurburgring under his belt, numerous race and championship wins, and three FIA Speed Records. Speaking of his time developing the new version of the F5, the engineer said, “I led engineering on some of the most extreme cars to come out of GM, including the Corvette Z06 and Cadillac CTS-V, but nothing compares to designing, developing, and refining a race car for the road like the Venom F5 Revolution.”

The Venom F5 Revolution arrives shortly after Hennessey delivered its 10th example of the regular coupe, and the new model’s global debut will take place at the Miami Motorcar Cavalcade Concours d’Elegance on January 15. Although it’s a brand new model, and although it’s priced at $2.7 million, “many of the Revolution models have already been sold,” says Hennessey. Just 24 will be made – the same number of examples of the regular coupe that Hennessey sold.

As a track-focused special, the Hennessey Venom F5 Revolution will be a fine rival for the Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport. When that car was new, the base price was in the region of $3.3 million. In our minds, that makes the Venom F5 Revolution something of a bargain. We’ll take two, please.
